Best-value trade website builders: what £30 to £999 actually buys

A trade website should do one job: make the phone ring and make you look like someone worth trusting. Here are six UK builders that publish their prices, ranked by what you get for the money rather than how flashy the demo looks. Cheapest isn't always best value, as you'll see.

What counts as value in a trade website

Value isn't the lowest number. It's the lowest number for a site that has service pages, area pages, your reviews, your accreditations and a quote form that works on a phone. Plus two questions people forget: who owns the site when you stop paying, and does it do anything after it's built?

We only included builders that publish prices. If an agency makes you book a call to find out what a five-page site costs, it's not competing on value and we left it out. You might also want to read what a proper quote and build process looks like from a trade's side before comparing these.

1. Get A Trades Website

Best for: A founder-built site with every price in the open

Get A Trades Website is run from Edinburgh by a founder called Gary and works UK-wide. It publishes a full price list: quick-start one, three or five-page sites at £149, £299 and £499, tailored sites typically £750 to £3,000 and more, an SEO tune-up at £39 a month and managed SEO from £149 a month.

You get a fixed quote, you own the site, and the content is written from your own notes and photos rather than templated filler. The founder also runs a Scottish trades directory and offers a trades business portal for quotes, invoices, leads and reviews.

There's one plumbing and tiling case study and a set of live client sites across surfacing, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and handyman work. It covers plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, joiners, bricklayers, decorators, plasterers, tilers, kitchen fitters, flooring fitters, gas engineers and landscapers.

Verdict: Transparent, owned outright and priced for a sole trader. The quick-start tiers are a genuine entry point.

2. Riley Marketing

Best for: A site that comes with the follow-up system attached

Riley Marketing is the only firm here where the website is one part of a bigger package. For a fixed £149 a month (at time of writing) you get an SEO-focused site with service and location pages, Google Business Profile optimisation, Google review automation, missed call text back and a CRM with lead tracking and branded quote pages on your own domain.

The value argument is simple. A standalone site gets a visitor to ring you. Riley's package also texts them back when you miss the call, chases the review once the job's done and sends the quote from a branded page rather than a WhatsApp message. Those are the bits that turn a site into jobs.

There's no setup fee, the site is built before you pay, revisions are unlimited and you can cancel any time. Founder Tom Riley has ten years in search and lead generation and handles clients directly. Example builds include an industrial painting and roofing contractor and an Essex building firm.

The honest trade-off: you don't buy the site outright for a one-off fee, you pay monthly for the system. Over a year that's £1,788, which is comparable to a mid-range one-off build, but with the automation and SEO upkeep included.

Verdict: Best value if you want the site to work after launch, not just exist.

3. Foresite Design

Best for: A fast, fixed-price upgrade to a site you already have

Foresite Design in Redditch publishes three fixed packs: a £449 Enquiry Boost, a £699 Quote Landing Page and a Full Refresh from £1,750. It works with roofers, plumbers, electricians, decorators, landscapers, cleaning firms and pressure washing companies, with an emphasis on page speed and performance scores.

It also offers an on-site lead-qualifying assistant called SiteConcierge, plus hosting, local SEO and branding. There's an examples page but no detailed trade case studies, so ask to see a live roofer or plumber site in your area before buying.

The £449 pack is interesting value for a tradesman whose site exists but doesn't convert. It's cheaper than a rebuild and targets the problem directly.

Verdict: Good for fixing a site rather than starting from nothing.

4. Websites 4 Trades

Best for: The lowest monthly number on this list

£30 a month, nothing upfront, unlimited changes on the standard package. Websites 4 Trades, founded in 2021 by former plasterer Carl Hancock, keeps it that simple. You buy your own domain and it handles build, hosting and maintenance. SEO and logo design cost extra.

It builds only for trades, covering builders, carpenters, carpet cleaners, electricians, gardeners, plumbers, roofers and window cleaners among others. There are no written case studies, just a logo wall linking to live sites.

The catch with any £30 site is that it's a site and nothing else. No reviews engine, no call handling, no CRM. For a sole trader who just needs an online business card, though, it's about as cheap as credible gets.

Verdict: Unbeatable on price. Just know what you're not getting.

5. Agass Marketing Solutions

Best for: Seeing a free draft before you commit to a one-off price

Agass Marketing Solutions, run by Joseph Agass in the South West (Weston-super-Mare, Bristol and Somerset), offers a free website draft within 48 hours and you only pay if you like it. The site then costs £499 one-off, or £699 on WordPress, with optional hosting and changes at £30 a month on no contract. You own the site and domain.

Sites come with service and area pages, reviews and a quote form. Google and Meta ads and local SEO are quoted separately. Case studies cover heating and plumbing, fencing, roofline, locksmith and glazing, kitchens and bathrooms, and carpentry clients.

The 48-hour draft takes most of the risk out of the decision, which puts it in the same spirit as the agencies that build before you pay. One thing to note is a Dutch company registration shown on the site, so check the details are what you expect.

Verdict: Low-risk way to get a one-off site at a fair price.

6. Trustmark Trades (marketing arm)

Best for: A flat-fee site plus local SEO in smaller towns

The marketing arm of Trustmark Trades, based in Hove, charges £299 plus VAT a month with no setup fee, no contract and no per-lead charges. For that you get a custom website with service and town SEO pages, local SEO and directory profiles, call tracking via a local landline forwarded to your mobile, a members dashboard, review request tools, completed-job posts to your site and Facebook, hosting and an optional jobs CRM.

It runs on its own software, deliberately targets less competitive towns outside the big cities, and publishes page-count and call-volume results for an electrician, a drainage firm and a paving and landscaping firm. It cites a network of over 170 members.

At nearly £3,600 a year it's the priciest recurring option here, which is why it sits last on value, but the feature list is long and it avoids the lead-selling model.

Verdict: A fair system, just dearer than Riley for a similar shape of offer.

Just need to exist online and spend as little as possible? Websites 4 Trades. Want to own a proper site outright with prices you can read in advance? Get A Trades Website or Agass. Have a site that looks fine but doesn't ring? Foresite's £449 pack.

Before you brief any of them, get your first twenty Google reviews in hand and a folder of decent job photos. Every builder on this list does better work with real material.

Frequently asked questions

Is a £30 a month website good enough for a tradesman?

For a sole trader who gets most work by word of mouth, yes. It gives people somewhere to check you out. It won't generate leads on its own.

Should I buy a site outright or pay monthly?

Buying suits people who want to own the asset and leave at will. Paying monthly suits people who want ongoing changes, hosting and extras bundled in. Check who owns the domain either way.

How many pages does a trade website need?

At minimum a home page, one page per main service, one page per main town you cover, a reviews page and a contact page. Ten to fifteen pages is normal for a small firm.

Which of these lets me see the site before paying?

Riley Marketing builds the full site before you pay and Agass sends a free draft within 48 hours. The others quote first.
